Grooming -- how long?
A grooming task started about 30 hours ago and is still running. How long should I expect it to take to groom a 1 TB backup set? The media set is on an Ethernet-attached NAS drive. How do I get out of this? ...

The Finder doesn't use the same communication protocol as the Retrospect Client software does, so while you can confirm that the devices are available on your network it doesn't mean they're properly configured for use with Retrospect.

RE: Retrospect 8.2 Keeps Crashing & Restarting
yup. If you've not done this before:
Locate the media set that has the backup of your config80.dat file.
Restore that file.
Stop the engine.
Remove *both* config80.dat *and* config80.bak files.
Put back only the restored config80.dat...

RE: 500 Gb Groom disaster
There would be "holes" in the numbering from when you run a groom (depending on how the groom worked) -- that's pretty normal.
However, those rebuild errors sound very, very wrong because they are referring (IMO) to .rdb files that shouldn't exis...

RE: How do you change the barcode on a media set member?
Hi Mayoff,
Thanks for the reply. The media sets in question has 37 LTO4 members, so I want to avoid rebuilding.
If I do change the barcodes on the tapes, from say 500 (Video_Backup_36) to 501 (Video_Backup_36), and Retrospect requests 500 (Vi...

RE: Retrospect 8.2 Keeps Crashing & Restarting
So, if you were backing up the config80.dat file, you should restore it from a pre-crash state and see if that version will work.
I'm guessing you still will need to rebuild the catalog of any media set that was in use at the time you did the reb...

I'm not seeing that here (with a relatively new config80.dat file).

If I save the rule and reopen it, that line i...
